Flower Show at Coney

The flower show at Coney Island, formerly known to us as the Ault Park flower show, runs from April 21st through the 24th.   The society will not put in an exhibit -- BUT any individual can enter blooming orchids in the Amateur Tent, Horticulture Division.   At the next meeting, Jan Yates will have some brochures with entry categories and some entry tags.    Jan will be happy to actually ferry the orchids to Coney Island if that is the only way to get them there - just talk to her first.  Anyone who enters a plant will get a free ticket to the show.

Group Order

Jan is also putting together a group order from Ricsel, a Brazilian grower which specializes in high quality species cattleyas, laelias and some other native orchids, plus bromeliads.  Ricsel's full list can be found through Orchid Mall --- go to the listings under Plant Sources - Brazil and you will find its web page.    The reason for the group order is -- any order is $500 minimum + $100 shipping/CITES.   If we get an order that exceeds $ 1,000, shipping and CITES are free.      Jan would like to place the order by mid-May,  so anyone who is interested, should send me a list of plants they want, either by mail or e-mail.   (jyates11@earthlink.net)
