The next meeting of the Greater Cincinnati Orchid Society will be on Tuesday, April 5, 2005.  Note that this is the first Tuesday of the month.  The meeting will be held at the Civic Garden Center on Reading Road across from Bethesda Hospital. The meeting is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.  There will be time to socialize from 7:00 to 7:30.

 

Program

This month’s program will be by Larry Sanford  on “Miltoniopsis”.   Refreshments  by Stan and Elaine Better and Lois Conyers.  Each month we try to have a few nice plants at the meeting as raffle plants. The tickets are $1.00 each, 6 for $5.00. This month’s plants are: Oncidium (Onc.) Twinkle “White”, in bud – small plant, long spray of white flowers Vuylstekeara (Vuyl.) Terry Kennedy ‘Cotton Candy’ – medium-sized plant, tall spray of light to medium purple Odontoglossum (Larry-type) flowers. Epilaeliocattleya (Eplc.) Charlie Brown (=Lc. Rojo X Epidendrum cordigerum) – a medium-sized plant with cluster of 6 to 7 dark red flowers per stem. Phragmipedium (Phrag.) Sorcerer’s Fire (=Sorcerer’s Apprentice X Andean Fire) – flowers look very much like Noirmont but the plant is MUCH smaller!

Plant Judging

AOS Judging of plants is done at the shows listed below under Nearby Shows as well as at the regularly scheduled judging sessions listed immediately below.  These sessions begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Civic Garden Center.  You are welcome to bring a plant to be judged or just to observe the judging.  Be a little early; plant registration is from Noon to 1:00 p.m.
