The next meeting of the Greater Cincinnati Orchid Society will be on Tuesday, October 4, 2005.  Note that this is the first Tuesday of the month.  The meeting will be held at the Civic Garden Center on Reading Road across from Bethesda Hospital. The meeting is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.  There will be time to socialize from 7:00 to 7:30.

Program

Next month’s program will be by Russ Vernon on Novelty Phalaenopsis.  Refreshments  by Katherine Miller and Dionisia & Hugo Rosal.  Raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 tickets for $5.  Plants will be from Indiana Show

 

MAOC Orchidfest

If you have not already registered for the fall Mid-America Orchid Congress at King’s Island Conference Center go to http://www.gardenersutopia.com/MAOC2005fall/ and download the forms.  This will be the largest orchid show in this area this year and a great opportunity to see outstanding plants and buy outstanding orchids from the vendors.  You can visit the vendors and the show for free but to hear the speakers requires registration.

 

MAOC Volunteers Needed

We will need volunteers to help with our hosting of the Mid America Orchid Congress. We will have sign up sheets at the October meeting. Some possibilities include helping with congress registration, hospitality area, auction, set up, tear down, greeters, run AV equipment, plant registration, plant sitting, assembling goodie bag, and clerks for judging.  We are sure there will be more.

Plant Judging

AOS Judging of plants is done at the shows listed below under Nearby Shows as well as at the regularly scheduled judging sessions listed immediately below.  These sessions begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Civic Garden Center.  You are welcome to bring a plant to be judged or just to observe the judging.  Be a little early; plant registration is from Noon to 1:00 p.m.
