The
society exhibit at the Kentucky Orchid Show the weekend of April 22-23 was
very successful, despite the black cloth backdrop that ever so slowly
pulled itself away from the tape that held it to the wall the night before
judging. And a lovely Paph. Deena Nicol which was accidentally
entered in the wrong class so got shut out of ribbons but was awarded in AOS
judging. The Paph, grown by Rick and Alexa Noel, was awarded an AM
(Award of Merit) of 82 points and given the clonal name
'Alexa.' The focal plant of the 50-square foot
exhibit was Phrag. Grande 'Macrochilum' grown by John Noel which took
the blue ribbon in its class. The Noel’s Den. pierardii
also won the President's Award given by the Kentucky Orchid
Society. The exhibit was set up by Larry Sanford, Jan Yates, Steve
Helbling and Alexa Noel. It won the AOS Show trophy as well as the
Class Trophy for society exhibits. The following nine
society members contributed plants to the exhibit. |
