The next meeting of= the Greater Cincinnati Orchid Society will be on Tuesday, May 6, 2008.  Note that this is the first Tues= day of the month.  The meeting will= be held at the Civic Garden Center on Reading Road across from Bethesda Hospital. The mee= ting is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.  There will be time to socialize from 7:00 to 7:30.

May’s program is by Russ Vernon on R= 20;Lycastes”.  Russ will have plants for sale.<= span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>  The Beginners Class is at 7:00 b= y Larry Sanford on “Summering Out Your Plants”.  Refreshments are from Shirley Kr= einer and Karen Cochran. Raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 tickets for $5.  Plants are from the Russ Vernon.<= o:p>

Thanks to members of our society, the amateur orchid division at the Cinci= nnati Flower Show was well-stocked with fine plants.  Stan Better won the society sponsored award for the best plant in the orchid division which w= ent to his  Paph. Julius.  The award is an engraved glass, identical to the trophies the society awards at its shows.   Me= mbers who contributed plants included Elaine Better, Toni Doty, Michele Little, Steve Helbling and Jan Yates.

= The 17th Annual Ohio Valley Seminar will be Saturday, July 12, 2008.  Glenn Decker of Piping Rocks Orc= hids will be speaking on Phrag. kovachii its discovery and hybrids and George Hatfield of Hatfield Orchids.  Registration form is available on the website.
